![]() Actually, come to think of it, I guess that's just an upside about Louis Sachar his books are all different. Spiced with lots of information about the characters in HOLES, as well as lots of dos and donts for survival, this is an essential book for all those. He lives with the Yelnats family in their apartment and constantly reminds everyone that their bad luck is because of that 'no good dirty rotten pig stealin Elya'. This might just be because I have read another of Louis Sachar's books (There's a Boy in the Girls Bathroom) which was all about two different character's change in personality so I might've been under the impression that this one is just a different book with a different story. Stanley Yelnats II is the son of Stanley Yelnats I, the father of Stanley Yelnats III, and the grandfather of Stanley Yelnats IV in the 2003 live-action film, Holes. Stanley Yelnats is the dynamic protagonist of the celebrated novel Holes and is depicted as an insecure, overweight boy who initially lacks self-confidence. I think the character (Stanley) was a little basic but since there was so much going on, there wasn't really much time for for adding in too much of an in-depth personality for him. ![]() ![]() This may have been interesting for some but not really for me. The author was aware of this from the way they said that the reader should 'fill in the holes themselves'. ![]() The end left a few secrets on hold and bits that felt like they weren't solved. ![]() I liked the way it changed times, from the main character to the history of the area although it could have been clearer when it did this. ![]()
